Summer 2011
Summer Camp
Ages 12 to 17
Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Summer camp is back for the 3rd year! This year's week-long clay camp will take place July 25th through the 29th. Join us as we create piggy banks, flutes, cups, planters and pizza. This year, musician and instrument maker, Sam Becerra, will guide students through an instrument making project. On the last class day, students can bring their favorite pizza toppings and help staff cook them up in Clay Space's very own woodfired pizza oven. So come on down, bring your best friends, and create memories that you will remember for years to come!

• Class fee: $200, includes clay, glazes, and firing
Saturday Kids Classes  

with Walter Ali

Jump in any time. Classes will be held on Saturdays and run in four week sessions. The classes are catered to specific age groups and are kept small for lots of individual attention. Join Walter Ali as he leads you through this wonderland of clay and imagination.

Parent & Child: ages 3 to 6
Saturday 9:00 am to 10:00 am
• Class fee (4 weeks): $125, includes clay, glazes, and firing
Come join us for an hour of storytelling, fun and dirty hands. This project-oriented class will take your child and you on a guided tour of the basic skills needed to successfully work with clay. Definitely wear old clothes… we will get dirty!

 

Kids in Clay | Discovery: ages 6 to 9

Saturday 10:30 am to 11:30 am

• Class fee (4 weeks): $125, includes clay, glazes, and firing

This fun-based class puts its emphasis on skill building and imagination. Think piggy banks and aliens, mugs and dinosaurs. We will begin with the idea that art comes from the heart and mind of the artist, out through the hands and fingers into the clay. Come join the fun!

 

Kids in Clay | Exploration: ages 10 to 12

Saturday 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm

• Class fee (4 weeks): $125, includes clay, glazes, and firing

Oh my, what a wondrous age! We will use basic hand building techniques to explore and express this age group’s expanding awareness and experience base. Projects will offer lots of leeway for new ideas to develop and inventive techniques to be explored. Look out world… Here they come!

 

Kids in Clay | Intro to the Studio: ages 13 to 15

Saturday 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

• Class fee (4 weeks): $125, includes clay, glazes, and firing

This class has been developed to teach the basics of wheel throwing and hand building as well as studio rules and etiquette. Equipment use, glazing techniques and basic design will all be used to allow these students to smoothly transfer into our adult classes.

Monster Mash
with visiting artist James DeRosso
• July 31st or August 1st / 1.5 hour sessions
• Session Fee: $20 per person. Monsters can be picked up after firing is completed!
Sign up for a session on either day or both days. Each session lasts 1.5 hours. You and your young companion will have a fabulous time! See how James creates characters that go "bump in the night" and make your very own monster with James as your guide.

 

Mandala Adventure
For the Young and Young at Heart!
with Rebecca Lamothe
• August 7th from 1:00pm to 4:30pm
• Workshop Fee: $65 per team of two (youth and adult)
An interactive and intergenerational art experience for youth 7 years and up with an adult friend or family member. No art experience necessary. Join us for an afternoon of art and exploration of the Mandala. Create your own mandala, one with your partner and a BIG group mandala!

 

Youth Summer Camps

Eight Projects in Clay

with Jamie Gorbert

Join Jamie as she leads you through a series of projects. Create a collector's box, a fairy tale bowl, a mask, and more! In this eight week class the student will be familiarized with the fundamental basics of clay and clay working while in a bright, cool and FUN atmosphere. Sign up for all eight, for four or just two. 
• From July 12th to August 30th from 10:00 am to Noon
• Class fee: $175 for the full session (8 weeks) / $100 for the 4 weeks / $60 for the 2 weeks
• Includes clay, glazes, and firing
 

More Than Mud Pies
A Week in Clay For Young Teens on up!

• Session 1: July 12-16 from 10am to 1pm
• Session 2: August 9-13 from 10am to 1pm
Each session is followed with a one hour glaze session:
Session 1: August 3, 1 - 2pm
Session 2: August 24th, 1 - 2pm
Each week long program includes:

Two hours of lessons every day with Josh Allen. Learn about working on the potters wheel & learn some hand building techniques too! One hour of free work time after the lessons will be supervised by Clay Space staff.
Bring a snack or lunch if you like.
• Program Fee: $200 includes 17 hours program time, materials and firing

 

Exploring Crafts Week

with 4 different Artists!

Explore four different mediums during this week of fun filled projects. Students will create Mosaics along with craft Jewelry, work with Clay and dabble a bit in Printmaking. Sign Up Today! This should be quite the week!

• Program fee: $200
