Job Description
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced person to assist with our business development, our education program, and share in administrative studio duties within our manufacturing and creative workspace. We are looking for an individual who will be committed to helping us broaden our reach within and beyond the community. Much of what needs to
be accomplished relies on having the ability to plan with other team members, prioritize, be proactive, adaptable and work
well with different kinds of people. The right candidate will possess excellent communication, planning, and organizing skills, and have experience implementing and evaluating projects and activities to generate revenue sources that contribute to an organization’s bottom line.

We are looking for an individual who has been exposed to and is aware of the professional/creative arts and has a passion for business development. This person will have a demonstrated knowledge of business management, marketing savvy (both traditional and newer social media methods) and will have successfully generated and executed assignments. The person we are seeking will have a relevant college degree with 3 plus years of work-related experience. Competent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, exposure to Creative Suite programs and being at ease with social media platforms are all essential. Mac experience and some knowledge of Quickbooks preferred.

Hours
This is a 16 hour/week job to start and may grow to 20 plus hours in the future. Work hours will include several opening studio shifts each week, Monday through Friday, to be scheduled, with occasional work hours on weekends or evenings due to special events.

Starting wage: $12-15/hour, DOE, during training; reevaluated after 6 months

Job Responsibilities
The main focus of this position will be to assist owners in the development of the business. Many tasks within the following areas will be occasional and some are shared with other team members.

Marketing & Market Development
    Suggest, research and evaluate new production possibilities and markets        
    Work with owners to develop new marketing opportunities
    Call prospective clients and collaborators
    Assist in developing strategies and monitor our use of Facebook and Instagram   
    Represent Clay Space in the community at events as requested
    
Education Program
    Act as liaison between owners and instructors to organize class schedules
    Assist in maintaining records & documentation for classes/workshops/instructors
    Coordinate with instructors and students as needed
    Compare registration, attendance and other metrics with past instances
    Assist in tracking student interest and follow up as needed

Memberships
    Work with owners to further develop membership program
    Manage sign-up process for new members
    Qualify and help new members complete membership forms
    Qualify users and assist in issuing day passes and ten-packs

Other areas of responsibility include:
    Working with volunteers
    Opening and closing facility
    Answering phone, email
    Greeting and assisting members and visitors as a primary staff contact
    Cashiering – receiving cash, credit card payments, transaction recording
    General office administration    
    Becoming familiar with our store & ways to market store merchandise
    Working with owners on special events

Miscellaneous Responsibilities & Skills required
    Field a wide variety of tasks, record plans, make sure they get accomplished
    Attend operations meetings
    Start weekly and monthly task lists; help with delegation; and coordinate schedules and priorities with owners;
    Suggest newsletter and website content to build our studio brand
    Initiate sales efforts to build classes and membership, studio use and production services
    Coordinate with owners on priorities and delegation: what needs to be updated and when
    Have an awareness of the community within which we do business and engage in activities that help boost our bottom line
    Be a self-starter — work well without direct supervision

Physical Requirements
    Have good manual dexterity
    Be able to bend, reach and lift 30 lbs. comfortably
    Be at ease on your feet, traversing distance between store and office at a moments notice
